Info Line, Inc., is Summit County's 24-hour community information and referral service, answering 75,000 incoming calls annually to link people in need of services with the providers of such services. Since its incorporation as a nonprofit in 1975, its central purpose has been to provide access to human service delivery for people in need.

Info Line is one of the first three agencies in the state of Ohio fully accredited by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (the international professional organization for the field of information and referral) and employs ten Certified Information & Referral Specialists. This accreditation means that Info Line complies with all of the standards which have been developed for the provision of quality information and referral services.

The agency maintains a computerized resource directory of over 1,100 agencies and services for the Summit County area. It is the sole source for comprehensive information and referral, senior information and referral, and child care resource and referral services in Summit County.

INFO LINE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL
A comprehensive 24-hour information and referral on services and agencies in Summit County. Callers are referred to the appropriate provider, follow-up and advocacy provided as needed. Maintains a computerized database of human services. Tracks met and unmet needs and make this data available to planners, grant writers, and other interested parties. Publishes a comprehensive directory of human services as well as mini-directories, specialized lists and mailing lists. Customized reports are also available.

CHILD CARE CONNECTION
Maintains a computerized database of full day and part time child care programs including: licensed child care centers, family child care homes, nursery schools, school age programs, play groups, summer camps, and care in the home. Provides parents with child care referrals, consultation and consumer education materials on choosing childcare. Child Care Connection is a Child & Adult Care Food Sponsor; maintains and distributes a calendar of training opportunities for childcare providers; offers Family Child Care Home and Center start-up support, Child Development Associate Credential assistance, School-age Child Care Specialist, and Jobs Board.

EMERGENCY FOOD LINE
The Emergency Food Line provides referrals to area food pantries for individuals and families in need of a 3-day emergency supply of food or baby formula and diapers. Callers may receive emergency food assistance up to 6 times per year (no more than 1 referral per month); assistance with diapers is available one time per 12-month period.

HOMELESS MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM - HMIS
Hosts implementation of a community database used to collect data for homeless services agencies within Akron/Summit County Continuum of Care. Includes technical support, training, and networking to other agencies within the community.

LIFELINE
Provides emergency alarm monitoring for frail elderly persons and people with disabilities. A monitoring device is installed in the home and a message is relayed to a response center if there is a problem. A trained specialist at the central base station then dispatches appropriate assistance.

MEDASSIST
Provides financial assistance with prescriptions and limited medical supplies for individuals who are without health insurance coverage, but do not qualify for other assistance programs. Provides emergency prescription assistance once per 12-month period.

PROJECT CONNECT
Project Connect assists local non-profit organizations in upgrading their technology capabilities and utilizing their resources more effectively. Project Connect helps organizations determine what they need from communications technology and how to achieve it; offers technical assistance and training through trained staff and volunteers; provides assistance to organizations in developing websites.

SENIOR INFO LINE
Provides information and referral for Summit county older adults, their relatives, or caregivers. Senior Info Line staff members are available for speaking engagements.
