Richard Stahl is Info Line's New President & CEO

Richard B. Stahl has been appointed by the Board of Trustees of Info Line Incorporated as President & CEO. "Richard has had phenomenal success in making Info Line of Los Angeles one of the most influential information and referral agencies in the country," said Dr. Bob Norman, chairperson of the board. "We are intrigued with the potential he brings to Akron's organization."

One of Stahl's first projects will be to implement Info Line's 2-1-1 program for Summit County. 2-1-1 is an easily remembered telephone number which will enable people to access vital servicessuch as food and shelter, home health care, hospice programs, counseling and family support. Stahl has been integral in efforts to establish 2-1-1 throughout the country, serving on the national 2-1-1 Steering Committee which successfully petitioned the FCC to designate 2-1-1 for community information and referral services.

The Ohio Council of Information and Referral Providers (OCIRP) has approved Info Lines application to be the 211 Call Center for Summit County, a process Info Line has spearheaded in Ohio for the past two years. Once Info Line begins 2-1-1 service, Summit County residents will be able to immediately access community information and resources services simply by dialing the three-digit telephone number 2-1-1, said Stahl. We expect that 2-1-1 will be up-and-running in Summit County by the end of the first quarter of next year.

As Executive Director of Info Line of Los Angeles, Stahl has earned a reputation as a leader who makes things happen. During his tenure, the organization added numerous programs to help under-served populations, including an Elder Abuse Reporting Hotline, a Juvenile Violence Prevention Hotline, a Disaster Information Hotline, a Job Training and Employment Line, and a Cold/Wet Weather Shelter Hotline.

With 20 years experience in information and referral, Stahl has made significant contributions to the field. He assisted in the development and implementation of the Accreditation and Certification programs for AIRS (Alliance of Information & Referral Systems), and his organization was the first to successfully complete the AIRS Accreditation Program. He led the effort to establish the Info Line of Los Angeles Taxonomy of Human Services as the official classification and indexing system for the field of information and referral in the United States and Canada, securing endorsements from both AIRS and United Way of America. He provided national and statewide leadership for the profession of information and referral by serving multiple terms on the Board of Directors of AIRS and the California Alliance of Information and Referral Services (CAIRS). Info Line has served as Summit County's information and referral service since 1975. Information and referral provides a bridge between people who need services and the agencies offering those services.
