New Program Can Help with Planned Giving
LEAVE A LEGACY, Summit/Portage/Medina, a new program that works to create awareness, raise interest and motivate individuals to make charitable planned gifts, is believed to be the largest collaborative effort ever undertaken here in support of philanthropy. Marlene Dunford of Tallmadge is project manager, and planned giving consultant Liz Ganocy of Hudson is volunteer chair.
At its heart LEAVE A LEGACY seeks to educate community members about how to make charitable bequests and to inspire them to do so. National research shows that fewer that 6 out of 100 households plan to leave anything in their will to charity. This program seeks to increase that number and to establish charitable estate planning as social norm.
More than 40 nonprofit organizations plus a number of banks and law, accounting and financial planning firms have already pledged financial help and volunteer time. The goal to involve 200 or more nonprofits and many additional allied professionals.
The local effort is modeled after the successful pilot program developed by Columbus' Greater Ohio Planned Giving Council in 1996. Currently, more than 150 groups in 47 states are replicating the highly successful pilot while they tailor the program to their local communities and cultures.
To become involved or for more information, call Marlene Dunford, Project Manager, at 330.633.4985 or email [email protected]

PC TIP #3: Go to Tools ... Options and click on the /Edit\ tab. Turn off Tabs and backspace set left indent and When selecting, automatically select entire word. Do this in both Word and PowerPoint.
