Summit County Red Cross Offers Free Volunteer Training
The outpouring of generosity from communities has been tremendous, and our efforts are a symbol of American solidarity in this time of pain. Many Americans are asking the question, how can I volunteer to help?
Every day, American Red Cross volunteers provide essential services to the people in their communities. Every day, here in Summit County, local Red Cross volunteers teach children how to swim, help a family with a disaster, empower people with the skills they need to save a life and help people give the gift of life at a blood drive. Without the dedication of these 1.2 million volunteers, many of the services that the American Red Cross provides in communities across the country would not be available.
The American Red Cross is a volunteer-led organization and depends of the time of thousands of dedicated volunteers to respond to more than 67,000 disasters each year. The American Red Cross only sends TRAINED volunteers out on disaster relief assignments. The first step in this training, "Red Cross Volunteer Orientation," will be offered on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2001 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Please call 330-535-6131 to reserve a spot in the class. Space is limited. All Red Cross disaster training is free.
